Sunday night on TNT, a brand new television series premiered called "The Librarians." Based on the series of three made-for-tv "The Librarian" movies starring Noah Wyle, Bob Newhart, and Jane Curtin (Quest For The Spear, Return To King Solomon's Mines and Curse of the Judas Chalice), the series follows three "librarians in training" (Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and John Kim), their "protector" (Rebecca Romijn) and thier reluctant, sometimes cantankerous caretaker Jenkins (John Larroquette). The Librarians all bring unique, special talents to the group of genius level adventurers (think Indiana Jones with a 190 IQ).

Now these aren't just your standard dewey-decimal memorizing librarians. Oh, no, no. no. The quartet will battle the Serpent Brotherhood, a cult led by the mysterious immortal Dulaque (Max Headroom's Matt Frewer), who are fervently trying to release magic into the real world, throwing mortality back to the middle ages. Weekly battles will ensue attempting to keep mystical artifacts from falling into evil hands (regular viewers of the Scy-Fy series Hanger 13 will recognize the concept).

While Wylie, Newhart and Curtin will make re-occuring appearances, The Librarians will sink or swim based on the performances of the new comers. Many viewers will recognize John Larroquette from his multi-Emmy winning tour of duty on the TV series Night Court or from the classic Bill Murray movie Stripes. Rebecca Romijn is a former model, turned actress and is best known as being the former Mrs John Stamos. Christian Kane was last seen on tv as the often scene-stealing "Eliott" from the series Leverage, which also ran on TNT and starred Timothy Hutton. But most fans do not know about Kane's "other" job as a country singer.

Kane has released two albums (Kane and The House Rules) a live album (Acoustic Live In London!) and an EP (Christian Kane) that have all met with a modicom of success. He has written songs for Jason Michael Carrol, Jarrod Niemann and Trace Adkins, and his first single, 2010's "The House Rules" climbed to #48 on the country chart, while the follow-up, 2011's "Let Me Go" climbed to #39. You can count on some of his music making it to the series' soundtrack (as it often did on Leverage and his previous series Angel) and musically, I think 2015 may just be a break out year for Christian Kane.
