There are many organizations throughout Southwest Oklahoma dedicated to pets and pet adoptions. From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family.

Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol will be highlighting adoptable pets from throughout the Southwest Oklahoma area, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 8 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

Please remember to spay and neuter your pets, and of course to adopt, not shop!

In our very first Townsquare Pet Patrol, Friends Furr Change of Chickashaw featured Boo Boo, a handsome 3-year old Chihuahua mix, who had been in foster care for over 8 months. We are happy to report that Boo Boo has finally found his furr-ever home, and as you can see by the picture, is very happy to have a new boy to call his own.

Can you say adorable?! This beautiful girl is Copper, at just 2 years of age she is the life of the party. Copper is a smaller 30 pound terrier mix that enjoys treats and playing outside with her pack of friends. Copper was previously adopted as a small pup but sadly her owner had to move and could not take her with her.

Copper would love a home that will allow her time to adjust to new surroundings and will give her the room to run and play. Copper can be shy in the dog run so please ask us to take her out to a play yard to visit her. Copper would love another chance at a happy home, could that home be yours?

Adoption Applications can be submitted at www.pchumane.org under Adoptable Animals tab.  Please allow 48 hours for a response during normal business hours. (Wednesday-Friday 11-6 and Saturday 10-2).  Applications can also be submitted over the phone 580-767-8877 during normal business hours.

Kiefer is an extremely down to earth approximately 10 month pup. Most of the time he is happy just laying around. He likes to play in water and with other dogs when he gets the chance. He is a bit clumsy with his big paws but that will improve with age. he does well with bigger dogs just not small dogs because he likes to play a little rough. He doesn't mind cats and loves kids. He just wants to be loved. He does well in the kennel and as long as you let him out side right after kennel time so he doesn't go potty in the house.

Kiefer comes with age appropriate up to date shots, he is heart worm negative and neutered.  He has been on monthly heart worm and flea and tick preventive.  He has also been dewormed. He also comes with 30 days of free vet insurance if activated by the adopter. Kiefer is microchipped and the rescue pays for up to a year of activation and monitoring of the chip.

His adoption fee is $140.00. Please contact Rainbow Bridge Can Wait on Facebook or Petfinder is you are interested in Kiefer or any of our other companions.
