From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital, highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitty 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

Storm Relief Assistance

Continued assistance is needed in the both the South Florida and Houston, Texas areas, recently ravaged by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Thousands of animals have been left homeless and without families. Many are being relocated, while others are being cared for in the area.

There are several animal groups in the affected areas, attempting to help animals displaced by the storms. We encourage everyone to donate time, supplies or money to these efforts. Among those currently actively working with area authorities are the ASPCA, whose Disaster Response Teams are in the affected areas and assisting those in need. Also attempting to help with feet still on the ground in south Texas is Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation, a small group of volunteers who have rescued hundreds of dogs and cats in the time since Hurricane Harvey came aground.

Our thoughts, hearts and prayers go out to all those in the Houston and South Florida areas, and we urge you to help these organizations any way you can.

This is Curly, and apparently this sweet dog was coming between his owner his girlfriend, so now Curly is now looking for a new home. Enough said about that. Curly is about 9 years old and looks to be a Maltese mix. He loves to be loved on and is a sweet boy with lots of personality.

Curly is a good listener, but if you are talking to him expect to be answered, because he is also quite the conversationalist! He has the kind of personality that will be compatible with children; however, because of his age & breed type, we recommend older children (6+) only. Curly is cat friendly, good with other dogs, and he is house and leash-trained as well!

For more information about Curly, or to arrange a meet and greet with this wonderful guy, please call the Stephens County Humane Society at 580-252-7387!

Hi! My name is Domino, I am 2 to 3 years old, and while I may have a little extra baggage around my hips, if you gave birth to 6 little ones, then you'd have some too. I am fixed now and will slim back down. I am up-to-date on my shots, so if you don't mind a girl with curves then stop down and see me at Lawton Animal Welfare!

Do you have a furever home I can go into? Will you 'Opt to Adopt'? Come down to Lawton Animal Welfare, 2104 SW 6th Street, and ask for me by name, remember ASK FOR DOMINO! 580 581-3218

Abby is our Pet of the Month for September. She is a German Shepherd and Husky mix with one brown and one blue eye. She is around a year old. Abby came in as a stray and is a very sweet girl. She has lots of personality and does well with other dogs but is unsure about cats.

She has lots of energy since she is still young and would need to have some training to not jump on people and kids when she is excited. Does Abby sound like your kind of girl?

Come and visit her and see if she is the dog of your heart. As pet of the month her adoption fee is sponsored to an approved home. We are located at 2801 Sullivan St in Vernon Tx. You can reach us by phone at 940-552-5373 or by email at whs76384@gmail.com. To put an application on any of our animals please visit www.wilbargerhumanesocietyvernontx.org
