Townsquare Pet Patrol
There are many organizations throughout Southwest Oklahoma dedicated to pets and pet adoptions. From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family.
Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol will be highlighting adoptable pets from throughout the Southwest Oklahoma area, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.
This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.
Please remember to spay and neuter your pets, and of course to adopt, not shop!
SUCCESS STORY
This is Branson, who just last week was on his last days at the Carnegie Animal Shelter. Then a nice man from Missouri saw Branson on the Pet Patrol, drove all the way to Carnegie from the Show Me State, and now, Branson is where he belongs, Missouri!!

SPRING BREAK FOR DOGS:
The Duncan Humane Society would like to introduce a new program, CHECK OUT A DOG FOR THE DAY. Tues. March 14th, noon-3:30pm. Call Patti at 580 641-0667 to reserve a dog. We can help you with ideas for your outing. We thought we would try this out on Spring Break so that kids could be involved.
We will only have 10 dogs available to "check out" this first round, so call Patti soon to reserve a dog. The shelter provides everything you need for a doggie day date, including an “Adopt Me” vest and leash just in case you run into the dog’s furrever family. If you decide you want to take your furry friend home (yes, this can happen!), then the shelter will help work out all of the details.
Participant must be at least 18 years old Dogs must be in an enclosed vehicle (no riding in an open convertible or in the open bed of a truck.) Dogs must be on leash at all times. If you bring your own dog on the outing, we must do a "meet and greet" to make sure everyone gets along.
Friends Furr Change Animal Rescue and PetSense will be holding a national adoption event on Saturday May 6th at PetSense in Chichasha. All 132 PetSense stores will be holding an adoption event on the same day. For more information, please call Erin at PetSense (405) 222-7006.

We'd also like to introduce you to Lil' Bit, our Jack Russell Terrier mix, had a great photo session Sunday afternoon!
This little cutie is typical JRT - alert, focused, curious and quite certain she - and only she - knows how things are to be done! Lil' Bit gets along with most other dogs, particularly those her own size, but shows way too much interest in cats. She is great with children who are old enough to understand how to respect a dog's boundaries. She is a social dog and will make someone a wonderful companion! For more information, please call the Humane Society at 580-252-7387.
Lawton Animal Welfare - 580 581-3218
Nolee, a 9-year old, female Jack Russell mix, is one of our Seniors Looking for a Senior program dogs. She is a great, sweet, dog, who wants nothing more than to find a Happy Home for her Happy Tails.Make it her "Lucky Day to be Adopted", contact the Lawton Animal Welfare department at 580 581-3218.Lawton Humane Society - 580 355-7729
This beautiful girl is Diamond, a terrier mix, around 3 years old. This sweet girl was adopted from Lawton animal welfare, after being bred and has recently been surrendered to the lawton humane society. She is happy just to be apart of the family.
Diamond will happily just lounge around the house, sleeping at your feet until you are ready to throw some toys around. This sweet girl knows how to fetch, sit, stay, lie down, and "bed". She is such an appreciative pup and looks at you with adoration in her eyes, just for giving her attention. Diamond hates the kennel, but does just fine around the house with minimum restrictions. Toys are toys to her, she hasn't quite figured out which ones are off limits so she will need a home where she has her own toys (shares well with others), chewbones, and antlers available to her to keep her occupied.
Diamond doesn't have a mean bone in her body, and wants to be friends with anyone and Everyone! She does excellent on a leash and would love to go for walks, but doesn't get irritable if she doesn't. She is a very quirky girl who wags her tail up and down instead of side to side! Baths are a cake walk to her and soothes her to the point of dozing off! She is potty trained and kennel trained. This sweetheart will play fetch all day if you let her! She is just an all around happy, perky girl who wants a safe home where she has a warm place to sleep.
If you want to meet Diamond contact Brandi at 5802843445 call or text anytime.

Rainbow Bridge Can Wait - 580 919-0439
This is Duke. He is a male 1 yr old Dane/Lab mix. He is neutered, up to date on shots, micro-chipped,and hw neg. He loves to play with his foster siblings, especially in the yard where there's enough room. He get along with dogs, big and small not sure about cats, hasn't been around them. He is doing very well with basic commands and walking on a leash. He likes car rides. Duke is very submissive, he lets other companions be the boss.
Duke would do great in a home with people who are as energetic as he is and maybe a furry brother or sister who enjoys playing as much as he does. Because of his size and the fact that he has no idea how strong he is, he shouldn't go to a family with small children. Duke is not a jumper, but he is only 1 year old and still growing and a fenced in yard is a must. Duke is not good with smaller children.
Duke's adoption fee is $140.00. If you are interested in giving him a home, please contact Rainbow Bridge Can Wait on Facebook or PetFinder.
Carnegie Animal Shelter - 580 682-9073

Southwest Oklahoma Animal Rescue - 580 229-5151
This is Juliette, a 4-5 year old, spayed female. Juliette has also been through a formal obedience program. Juliette is good with people and kids as well as other dogs. She has not been around cats, so again, introduce them with caution. Juliette is shy at first; it will probably take her a few days to a week to warm up to new home, (Which is not unusual) but once she has, she is a very loving, sweet, and docile companion.
Juliett's DNA is also a mystery; I would venture a guess towards Border Collie and perhaps Great Pyrenees. We also have her full brother, who is much larger and shows some Pyrenees traits. Juliette would make a nice addition to anyone's home. If you would love to make Juliette a member of your family, please contact S.O.A.R at 580 229-5151
Southwest Oklahoma Animal Rescue - 580 229-5151
This is Jack, he is a 4-5 yr old neutered male, that has been through a formal obedience program and has been housebroken. His DNA is varied with some Lab/Walker hound and a few other strands. He gets along well with people, kids, and other dogs. I am not sure about cats; I would think he would be OK, but I would introduce cats cautiously.
Jack will stay close by while off-leash but Jack is a high-energy dog that likes to run around and play. Jack is a good pup and would to have a home. If you would love to make Jack a member of your family, please contact S.O.A.R at 580 229-5151.
