Condolences to Tracy Lawrence: The singer's father, Duane Dickens, has died.

Dickens passed away on Wednesday (Aug. 31) at his home in Texarkana, Ark. He was 83 years old.

Born on Aug. 12, 1933, in Foreman, Ark., Dickens was one of parents Fountain McIver and Emma Jean Dickens' four children: one brother, one sister and a twin sister. He received a degree in banking from Southern Methodist University and worked for 44 years at State First National Bank (later Regions Bank); in those years, he worked his way up to the role of vice president. Dickens was a member of Foreman's First United Methodist Church and a Shriner at the Masonic Lodge.

In addition to Lawrence, Dickens is survived by sons Laney Lawrence and Samuel Dickens Jr.; daughters Wendi Lawrence Roberts, DeRenda Mydland and Daphne Roy; his brother, Charles Robert Dickens; his twin sister, Dolores Pullen; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. According to Dickens' obituary, a visitation has been scheduled for Sunday (Sept. 4) from 3PM until 5PM at Madden Funeral Home in Foreman. Dickens' funeral will take place on Monday (Sept. 5) at 10AM at Foreman's First United Methodist Church; burial will follow, at the Dollarhide Cemetery in Foreman.

Lawrence broke into country music in the early 1990s with his Top 10-charting, platinum-selling Sticks and Stones album. His most well-known songs include "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" and "Time Marches On," two of his eight No. 1 singles. He now hosts a syndicated radio show, Honky Tonkin' With Tracy Lawrence.
