
Two Rounds of Severe Weather To Impact Oklahoma On Tuesday, April 1
Spring storm season is no joke in Oklahoma. Two storm systems are expected to pass through Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 1, brining multiple severe hazards across the state. On Tuesday, Oklahoma could see big hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma has two chances for severe weather on Tuesday, April 1. The first round is expected Tuesday afternoon and the second is to impact overnight. There is uncertainty about when, where and if storms will develop, but Oklahomans are urged to remain weather aware throughout the day because if storms develop, they will undoubtably be severe.
Severe storms could begin in Oklahoma during the late afternoon on Tuesday.
During the afternoon on Tuesday, storms could start developing around 4 p.m. in Oklahoma. Isolated storms could develop along the dryline due to capping inversion. If storms develop this afternoon, they will be severe and are expected to produce large hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes.
Confidence is low for the first round of storms due to the presence of a strong capping inversion.
Evening storms on Tuesday are expected to be more severe in Oklahoma.
Confidence is higher for the second round of storms in Oklahoma on Tuesday. The storms are expected to form along a cold front from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service in Norman expects storms to develop after midnight, but there is uncertainty with how far south the line of storms will extend.
If storms develop, they are expected to be severe with significant hail up to baseball size, winds from 60 to 80 miles per hour and strong tornadoes.
