Citing numerous complaints from consumers of finding foreign materials in chicken, Tyson Foods recalled more than 132,000 pounds of fully cooked chicken products for a possible contamination of hard plastic, the USDA stated Tuesday.

The recall includes Tyson Fully Cooked Panko Chicken Nuggets in 5-pound bags. The products included have a "best if used by" date of July 18, 2017, and have case codes of 2006SDL03 and 2006SDL33. The item was sold Costco location across the country.

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the problem was discovered after Tyson received complaints of foreign material contamination of chicken nugget products. The plastic material ranged in size from 21mm in length and 6.5 mm in diameter. The contamination may have come from a round, hard plastic rod used to connect a plastic transfer belt.

According to the Tyson food company, there have been no reports of injury or illness caused by ingestion of the products. Consumers are asked to return the products to the place of purchase or throw them away. Also affected by the recall are 20-pound bulk packages of Spare Time Fully Cooked, Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters with Rib Meat and with a production date of July 18, 2016, and case code 2006SDL03. Tyson says these products were sold to a single wholesaler in Pennsylvania.

Consumers with food safety questions can contact the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline, 888-674-6854, is available in English and Spanish and can be reached from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
