
Warming Trend Headed For Oklahoma
Although most of Oklahoma is seeing single digit temperatures, a warming trend is expected to thaw the state next week. Oklahoma will start warming up this weekend, and next week the state will see above average temperatures.
Dangerous cold is expected in Oklahoma on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and Thursday, Feb. 20. Wind chill values will remain sub-zero across most of Oklahoma through Thursday morning. Cold temperatures are expected into the morning of Friday, Feb. 21 before temperatures get slightly above freezing.
Oklahoma will break record cold temperatures before warm up.
Before spring arrives, Oklahoma is set to break multiple coldest maximum and minimum temperatures across the state. Some of the areas haven't been this cold this late in February since 1918.
Oklahoma will get back up into the 70s next week.
After Friday, Oklahoma will slowly creep back up into the 70s. By Monday, Feb. 24, most of Oklahoma will see temperatures in the mid-70s.
Above average temperatures will take over Oklahoma Feb. 26 through March 4.
According to the NOAA's eight to 14 day extended outlook expects Oklahoma to see above average temperatures Feb. 26 through March 4.
The NOAA also expects Oklahoma to see above average precipitation to end February and start March.
Oklahoma could see a warm, wet and thunder-filled spring.
Meteorological spring starts on March 1, and the Farmers' Almanac is expecting Oklahoma to have a warm, wet and thunder-filled spring. With the upcoming warming trending, it's looking like this prediction could already be coming to fruition.
