Oklahoma is seasoned to wild weather events, and one of the most uncommon in Oklahoma is a white Christmas. The state hasn't seen a white Christmas since 2009, and during that time it wasn't a charming dusting of snow, it was a full-on blizzard.

As we get closer to Christmas, some meteorologists are taking a look at the long rang models to see what could be brewing for the weather on Christmas. And some are seeing the potential of a white Christmas for Oklahoma this year.

It's too far out to give an official Christmas forecast for Oklahoma.

Right now, anything about the weather on Christmas is all hypothetical and based on long rang forecasts. As Oklahoma residents know, the weather is always changing, and forecasts are impossible to pin down exacts, especially during the winter.

Some local meteorologists aren't even daring to mention the term "white Christmas" when it comes to the long rang forecasts. But there have been hints as to something winter-like that could happen in Oklahoma the week of Christmas.

KFOR Meteorologist Mike Morgan has been hinting at possible "mischief" happening in Oklahoma the week of Christmas. People in the comments has read this as either a snow or ice storm, or maybe just another arctic blast. Some commenters are holding out hope for the rare white Christmas in Oklahoma.

Long range models are showing a wintry set up the week of Christmas.

Snowbidbob is a Digital Meteorologists and tracks all things winter weather. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, they stated that there is a chance for a white Christmas this year, possibly including Oklahoma.

According to Snowbirdbob, the 12z GFS Ensembles are showing a wintry setup around Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. And, of course, the wintry precipitation possibilities are mixed for the Central United States. The models are currently showing a mix of snow, sleet, ice and rain.

Whether or not the precipitation becomes winterized depends on where the cold air lands. But as for now, this is just a long range look at what the weather could do around Christmas, it's not a forecast just yet.
