Could it be true? On Thursday, it was reported that Universal is kicking around the idea of filming a sequel to the box office hit Dr. Seuss film ‘The Lorax,’ which stars Taylor Swift and Zac Efron. While this may or may not simply be a rumor, it seems Universal would have to be crazy not to at least consider the idea with as well as the first movie is doing.
On Wednesday, Texas native and 2010 ‘American Idol‘ finalist Casey James made an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ to perform the lead single from his self-titled debut, which just dropped March 20. Performing ‘Let’s Don’t Call It a Night’ for the studio and television audiences, James seemed quite relaxed and natural wielding his electric guitar with his band.
An attorney in White Plains, N.Y. and another man are facing accusations that they pretended to represent Taylor Swift and then swindled $225,000 from a Los Angeles concert investor. The two men, attorney Emmanuel “Kojo” Bentil and Derrick “Suits” Robinson supposedly stole the money by ripping off Kachik Mouradian, the chief executive officer of Omega Alpha Enterprises, according to LoHud.com.
In 2010, Alan Jackson and his family received the news no one ever wants to hear. His wife, Denise Jackson, had been diagnosed with cancer. In an episode of GAC’s ‘Backstory’ last year, the ’Chattahoochee’ singer confessed what a difficult time it was for him to see his high school sweetheart suffering, saying, “To see her go through that, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I’ve been taking care of her since she was 16, but I couldn’t do anything to help her. It was tough.”
Trisha Yearwood will be joining forces with other artists from a variety of genres to perform in the benefit show, A Celebration of Paul Newman’s Dream, on April 2. In the company of fellow performers Paul Simon and Josh Groban, among others, Yearwood will take the stage of New York City’s Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center for the show that will benefit Paul Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Camps.
Yep, it’s true. If you were hoping this celebrity couple would hire you as their live-in laundress, your dreams have just been shattered. Blake Shelton, who is about as down-home country guy as they come, says he and wife Miranda Lambert will not be hiring someone anytime soon to do their dirty work — their dirty laundry, that is. But that doesn’t mean the ‘Honey Bee’ singer particularly enjoys the task. Hitting Twitter last month, Shelton conveyed how he really feels about the matter.
George Strait hasn’t been writing and releasing music since he was born, but if he had, and he had one No.1 hit every year of his life, he would be right where he is now. The 59-year-old country king is celebrating his astounding 59th No. 1 hit with ‘Love’s Gonna Make It Alright’ from his September 2011 Grammy-nominated record, ‘Here for a Good Time.’
A Marion Superior Court Judge scheduled a hearing for this Friday (March 23) at the request of Mid-America Sound Corp., the company that built the roof and rigging that held the lights and sound equipment which collapsed in the Aug. 13 Indiana State Fair tragedy. The hearing will determine whether or not the judge will grant Mid-America’s request that Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, as well as a representative from their ownership company, Lucky Star, Inc., be forced to appear in court to give depositions about the incident.
New ‘The Voice‘ mentor Keith Urban and his wife Nicole Kidman are rallying around a cause that has become a local movement in New South Wales, Australia. The couple recently posted a sign outside of their $6.5 million home in Southern Highlands showing their support for the grassroots anti-coal mining movement. Placed on the gates to their home, the sign reads “No Coal or Coal Seam Gas,” according to the West Australian.
While several of the biggest 2012 ACM Awards will be doled out April 1 during the live telecast on CBS, time restrictions keep the other honorees from being awarded on-camera. For those awards that won’t make the televised time slot — Special Awards, Industry Awards, Musician, Bandleader and Instrumentalist (MBI) and Songwriter of the Year — the Academy of Country Music is hosting its sixth annual ACM Honors event on Sept. 24, 2012, in Nashville.
As it turns out, ‘Today’ show host Hoda Kotb is quite the country music fan. Last week, we reported that Lee Brice was scheduled to co-host ‘Today’ Tuesday, March 20 with Kotb during the fourth hour on NBC in the absence of regular co-host Kathie Lee Gifford. Then, we got wind of another set of country co-hosts slated to appear the same week: Josh Turner will be filling Gifford’s role Monday, March 19 while Kellie Pickler will stop in on Friday the 23rd. Now, a fourth co-host has been announced, and — surprise! — it’s country star Randy Travis.
This morning (March 20), Keith Urbantweeted about a video that he ran across on YouTube that impacted him. Interestingly enough, it was a cover of one of his songs — done entirely by a 10-year-old boy named Carson Lueders. With his acoustic guitar in tow and his brother Jackson keeping a steady beat behind him on a drum kit, Lueders performed Urban’s ‘For You’ from the Navy SEALs film ‘Act of Valor.’
