Another Big Oklahoma Gas Station Brand is Swapping Ownership
I think it's safe to say the internet has ruined society. It has connected us all and driven down our mental capacity for being grown-ups.
Case and point:
All Oklahoma Kum & Go gas station convenience stores will be rebranded for what the new owners refer to as "the obvious reason."
The new owners are Utah-based Maverik and while there were rumblings in web forums about this move, the company has made it official and moving on this very fast. The Kum & Go website has already been stripped of all K&G locations.
One former Maverik employee had this to say:
I think there was some concern about the inadvertent double entendre of the Kum & Go name. I also believe that [Maverik CEO] Chuck Maggelet envisions growing Maverik into a multi-regional brand, and he’s not deterred by Casey’s, Kwik Trip, or other well-respected brands in the Midwest.
It seems that in 2024, gas station chains will replace car washes as "the business move" across the country. As generational ownership of nationwide brands age and retire, more brands are expected to swap hands and/or disappear.
