Today we turn our attention to an artist who has been recognized by his home state of Mississippi for his outstanding musical accomplishments. He was also recognized for being a model student by the Mississippi State Senate.

Singer and songwriter Charlie Worsham is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, and first came to fame as the mandolin player and harmony vocalist for the alt-country band KingBilly, which disbanded in 2012 after struggling for main stream acceptance. Worsham was the first member to actually break out on his own, touring as the opening act for Taylor Swift's Speak Now World tour in 2011 & 2012.

In 2013, Worsham released both his debut single, "Could It Be" and his debut album Rubberband. The single peaked at #13 on the Country Singles chart, with the album becoming a huge critical success, but struggling to garner sales, peaking at #12 on

the Albums chart. The album would feature a second single, "Want Me Too", also released in 2013. It would not meet with similar success as the lead single, peaking at #33 on the charts.

In support of his debut album, Worsham toured as the opening act for Miranda Lambert's Platinum Tour in 2013-14 and with Wade Bowen in 2015. He also toured through out 2016 as one of the opening acts on Kenny Roger's farewell tour, spending part of 2016 in the studio working on his second album. That album, Beginning of Things, is scheduled for release this Friday with the lead single in our spotlight today, brought to you by All American Car Wash.
