Today is Thursday, and even though it's Thanksgiving Day, we still bring you one of the great unsigned or indy label recording artists currently trying to find their way in Nashville. Today, an artist who started performing at a very young age, and who invokes her Smoky Mountain upbringing in her music.

Morgan White was born in the southern coalfields of West Virginia, and by the age of two, began to exhibit a musical talent which foreshadowed her life-long passion to perform. Growing up a short drive from the childhood homes of current day superstar Brad Paisley and that of a country music legend, Loretta Lynn, Morgan has grown into a modern-day coal miner’s daughter, proving once again that the Appalachian Mountains hold many other treasures than just coal. Young Morgan was influenced by such country legends as Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes.

In the fall of 2009, with the support of her husband, family, and friends Morgan headed south to Nashville to begin her pursuit of a recording contract. A year later, she would find her efforts were beginning to pay off. The singer would soon sign with MooTown Records, where she remained for the next year and a half. After a brief hiatus, Morgan signed with Next Big Thing Entertainment.

Morgan has performed at venues throughout West Virginia and recently was selected to open up a local Keith Urban pre show at the Charleston Civic Center, also performing at the official Keith Urban after party.
