Taylor Swift can pretty much do whatever Taylor Swift wants to do. Swift and her family moved to Nashville in 2003, when the singer was just 14 years old to pursue her Nashville dream. She became the youngest artist ever signed by the Sony/ATV Publishing House just two years later, and was offered a developmental contract with RCA Records. Nothing came of this deal, and Swift would sign with Big Machine Records at age 16, releasing her self-titled debut album in 2006. The album hit #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and peaked at #5 on the magazine's Hot200 Albums chart. It would go on to spend more weeks on the Hot200 chart than any other album in the decade, featuring 5 top-30 hits and selling more than 5 million copies.

Swift has released 6 albums with Big Machine, the first four concentrating on country music, sold 20 million copies, and featured 12 top-10 hits and 3 #1 hits. Swift has won 18 Grammy awards, 12 CMA and 8 ACM awards, including the 2011 CMA Entertainer of the Year award. At age 21, Swift was the youngest performer to ever win the award, and repeated it with wins in 2011 and 2012.

In 2012, Swift released the album Red, a departure into pop music. Many of her staunchest country fans felt a sense of betrayal, but pop fans rejoiced. Some her more recent work had been labelled "pop/country" or "bubblegum country" for its ability to cross over onto the pop chart, so the transition was seamless. The album would sell more than 4 million copies, placing 4 singles on the Billboard Hot100. Her follow-up, 2014's 1989 has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, being certified 6x platinum by the RIAA. the album feature 7 singles, with 5 songs making the top-10 and 3 topping the Billboard pop chart.

Swift made in roads to returning to country music in 2016, when Little Big Town recorded the song "Better Man" which was written by Swift. The song went to #1 on the country charts, and recently earned Swift her first CMA award since 2013 for Song of the Year. On November
