‘Catch of the Day’ – Chelsea Bain – “Drinkin’ Alone” [AUDIO]
Today we feature the return to our pages of an up-and-coming singer and songwriter from Phoenix, AZ, whose musical soundtrack growing up included the varied sounds of George Strait, Bob Dylan, Shania Twain and Tom Petty. An artist who would be just as like found riding dirt bikes as she would have in the roping arena or riding horses. A definite all-American girl.
Chelsea Bain grew up in an atmosphere that encouraged unbridled passion in anything she did. It was evident by her life in the horse world, where she won 10 championships in the American Paint Horse Association, where she would often sing before competing. She spent her time away from the horse ring concentrating on her music, appearing in productions of Chicago and Les Miserables while still in school. But neither this nor singing before more than two dozen NASCAR races at the Phoenix Motor Speedway were the outlets she was hoping for.
At age 19, Chelsea reached the point where the horses no longer presented her the challenge she had received in the past, so she decided to head to Nashville to tackle the country music business. But she didn't dive in head long, spending two years planning her future, networking across the industry, and making important contacts along the way. She released her self-titled EP in 2015, releasing the self-depicting "All American Country Girl" as the lead single, both the single and the EP received critical acclaim for its blend of country and rock, garnering many comparisons to Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert.
Those comparisons don't fade with the release of Bain's latest single, a song that is in our spotlight today. Chelsea Bain and "Drinkin' Alone" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
