The goal of the Catch of the Day every day is to bring you new music that you haven't heard anywhere else. We broke the tradition today, because today's Catch is an extraordinary song, from a legend of county music that we actually debuted it on the morning show today to celebrate its nomination for an Academy Award.

One of the problems I have with "modern country" is that it tends to forget who brung ya here. Artists that helped to build the foundation of country music and country radio have been cast to the side. Today's artist is one of those that was a country music stalwart in the 60's and 70's. You couldn't turn on your radio without hearing "Gentle On My Mind", "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" or "Wichita Lineman", but much like the Edsel or 25 cent movies, time and country radio have passed Glen Campbell by.

Its taken personal tragedy to bring Campbell back into people's hearts and minds. When it was discovered in December of 2010 that he was suffering the affects of Alzheimer's disease, Campbell made a brave choice. Instead of hiding and fading away, he was going to go out in a blaze of glory. The "Rhinestone Cowboy" singer decided to hit the road one last time and take everyone along for the ride.

A documentary team followed him on his farewell tour, producing "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me", which chronicles the increasing symptoms of Alzheimer's and they affect they had on Campbell. The soundtrack of the movie, which features many of today's artists covering Campbell's classic catalog. Also featured on the soundtrack was one new Campbell song which has been nominated for a pair of 2015 Grammy awards for Best Country Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media. And on Thursday it received Campbell's second Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

Your Catch of the Day today is Glen Campbell and "I'm Not Gonna Miss You"....new music you MAY have heard, but you definitely will be hearing again.
