Today we head out onto the dance floor, and we take a listen to the latest single from a country artist who hails from an unlikely locale. A traditionalist country artist, who cut his teeth in west coast honky-tonks.

I you ask the question "where do country singers come from?", you will generally hear responses like Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma and Mississippi. One of the last places you's hear would be "northern California". But that is exactly where Jon Pardi hales from. Growing up in Dixon, a small farming town about 30 miles south west of the state capital Sacramento, Pardi's path began early in life, beginning to write his own songs at age 12, and forming his first band at 14. While still in high school, his bands played clubs and bars around the area, and in 2004, at 19 he headed to Nashville.

Pardi worked several jobs around Nashville while trying to make his break in Nashville, including life guard at a local public pool. He kept his mind on the prize, working various jobs, honing on his songwriting skills all the while. He worked with

several of the top names in Nashville's songwriting community, including Brice Long and Bart Butler, taking a little something away from each songwriter he worked with. He signed with Capitol Records Nashville in 2009, and was sent out on the road as Dierks Bentley's opening act in 2010, without even having an album to support.

In 2012 Pardi released his debut single, "Missin' You Crazy", which peaked at #26, but still, no album was in sight. In 2013 he would follow it up with the top-10 hit "Up All Night", which was released in March of 2013. At this point Pardi headed back into the studio to work on his debut album, Write You A Song, which was released in January of 2014. It featured four singles, including the first two releases and two more that failed to crack the top-30. He toured with Bentley again in 2014, as well as Alan Jackson. In 2015, in support of the debut album, Pardi went out on his first headline tour, with Brothers Osborne as the openers.

Following up on the debut album, Pardi recorded what is proving to be his break-through album. Released in June of 2016, California Sunrise, has sold more than 200,000 copies. The album has featured 2 #1 singles, sold more than 250,000 copies and earned Pardi the ACM Best New Male Artist award. We have the third single from the album in ours spotlight today.
