Today we feature a duo who have had success as songwriters and late last year changed their name after releasing six singles, without a lot of success.

LoCash was originally signed by Stroudavarious Records as LoCash Cowboys in 2010. Soon after the label changed its name to R & J Records before the duo even released its first single.

The pair would release three singles through R & J from their self-titled debut album, the most successful, "Keep In Mind" peaking at #34. As the 4th single from the album, "C.O.U.N.T.R.Y",  was released, R & J closed. The debut album would be re-released by Colt Ford's label Average Joe's in 2013, and the single would eventually be released through Average Joe's, along with a dance mix featuring Ford, on a label album, Mud Digger, Volume 3.

While going through the strife of a failing record label, Chris Lucas and Preston Brust continued to write songs for others. The pair co-wrote Keith Urban's #1 hit "You're Gonna Fly" and co-wrote Tim McGraw's top-10 "Truck Yeah" with Chris Janson. In 2014 Lucas and Brust signed with Reviver Records, dropping "Cowboys" from the name.

The duo wrapped up work in the studio on an EP, to be titled I Love This Life, to be released this Friday. We have the first single and title track in our spotlight today. LoCash and "I Love This Life" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
