Today the Catch of the Day come from an artist whose greatest success so far has been as a songwriter. He's penned songs for artists such as Clay Walker and Randy Travis, as well as most of the material on his own albums.

Ray Scott originally signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2005. After his debut record My Kinda Music produced three singles without a top-20 hit, Scott left Warner Bros., Scott became an independent artist and producer, founding his own record label, Jethropolitan Records.

Scott experienced more success with his self-released Sirius XM hit single "Those Jeans" in 2012. The album Rayility, a collaboration between Ray Scott and Nashville producer Dave Brainard, received positive critical attention.
