Today we turn our focus to an up-and-coming singer and songwriter, who, even if this single can manage to make it to #1 today, would set a record for the longest climb up the chart in country music history. A performer who has been a guest of the country music fans of Lawton in the recent past.

Russell Dickerson performed in Lawton as the opening act for Canaan Smith in 2015 Taste of Country Christmas tour. At the time, he had just released his third single, and got a really good response on his acoustic set from those in attendance. His second EP Yours was released just a couple of months later, and to date the single has sold over 125,000 copies in the U.S.

But the road from Music City to Lawton wasn't always a smooth ride for the Nashville native and graduate of Belmont University, the same Nashville University that has given us Brad Paisley, Florida-Georgia Line members Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, Canaan Smith and others. Dickerson got his start in Nashville while on a break from Belmont, working as a guitar tech on on several tours.

After graduating from Belmont, Dickerson signed with Creative Artist Agency in 2010, releasing a self-produced and released EP entitled Die To Live Again in 2011. The EP featured two failed singles, but it managed to catch the attention of indy label Dent Records, who signed Dickerson in 2014. His initial trip into the label resulted in the group of songs the became the EP Yours, including the title track, which was released as a single in October of 2015.

It's that single that is in our spotlight today. It has taken "Yours" 78 weeks to climb into the top-40 on the Country Singles chart. If it was to shoot to number this week, it would break the record for the slowest climb to #1...by 20 weeks! Brought to you by All-American Car Wash, Russell Dickerson and "Yours" is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.

Listen to the Catch of the Day and then, comment, like or share, and you will be entered into a daily drawing for a $25 gift card from All-American Super Car Wash.
