Growing up in Madison, Mississippi as the youngest of six children, Tanya Davis was raised by her mama to be a little lady, but every time she turned around, mama found young Tanya playing in the dirt or hauling in catfish. Her family's love of hunting and fishing led to a passion for the sports that led her to be featured on basic cable channels The Outdoor Channel and the Sportsmen's Channel. She is as likely to spent as much time in a deer stand as she is in a recording studio.

But it was her family's love of music that influenced her even greater. Her parents had a vast record collection that included including music from the 40's, 50's and 60's. The family spent their Saturday nights in their den singling and dancing along to the jukebox that contained that collection. She took those influences, she says Elvis Presley was the artist that captured her imagination, fueling the fire inside her to sing and perform.

Davis' drive, passion and hard work along the way have paid off in the form of her debut album 40 Miles East of Memphis. For the album, Tanya enlisted Grammy-nominated producer Billy Smiley, with a special appearance from Vince Gill on guitar and harmony vocals. Davis wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album, with the exception of two songs from two of her biggest influences, Elvis Presley ("Don't Be Cruel") and Bruce Springsteen ("The River"), adding her own flare to two classics.
