Today our focus is on an artist who knows every song has its time, and a song that was aged like a fine wine; today we pop the cork.

Tim McGraw is an artist that has never been in a hurry. He frequently has singles on hold until he "feels" its the right time to record them. He once left his record company because he felt they were releasing albums to frequently. Even though he went to college on a baseball scholarship, McGraw knew early on what path his future would take. But it wasn't until May 9, 1989 that he decided to take action. On that day, his hero, Keith Whitley passed away. McGraw immediately dropped out of college and never looked back.

Tim McGraw has released 65 singles, with 25 of them climbing to #1. Of those #1 hits, 3 have been named Billboard Magazine's top country song of the year: 1997's "It's Your Love", 1998's "Just to See You Smile", and 2004's "Live Like You Were Dying". Of his 13 studio albums, only his first album, 1993's Tim McGraw and his most recent album, released in November, Damn Country Music, have failed to receive certification. Three Greatest Hits and a Number Ones compilation albums have also gone gold or better.

McGraw's patience has paid off. According to the singer, he has held onto his latest single, a Lori McKenna-penned ballad, for years. McGraw says he held onto the song because it just wouldn’t have sounded the same on any of his other albums. The orchestral performance is stunning, and the song will be deservedly included with the best of his career.

The latest from McGraw is one of those songs that imparts wisdom while not coming off as preachy. One even gets the feeling that it is wisdom that the singer wishes someone gave to him. Tim McGraw and the second single from Damn Country Music, "Humble and Kind", is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you're going to want to hear it again.
