A Welcome Cool Down Could Be On The Way For Oklahoma
Oklahoma residents are used to summer extending through August and into September. Sometimes the beginning of October is still warm. But it's looking like Oklahoma could start getting a taste of cooler fall weather before the end of August.
Last week, some Oklahoma meteorologists started hinting at a pattern shift for mid-August. And now as August continues, that possibility is looking more and more likely. More meteorologists are seeing the same fall-like cool down heading for Oklahoma towards the end of August.
On Saturday, August 9, Meteorologist Mike Collier posted to his official Facebook page that another cool down is headed towards Oklahoma. The state will cool down from 100 degree days to the upper 90s this week before the second cool down reaches Oklahoma around August 20. Around this time, temperatures are expected to be below normal across the state.
Low temperatures could get back down into the 50s and 60s in Oklahoma.
So far this summer Oklahoma has seen some extremely hot days with very warm nights. Most nighttime lows this summer have remained in the 70s or higher. But towards the end of August, KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan expects lows to be in the 50s and 60s.

NOAA expects near normal temperatures for Oklahoma at the end of August.
Even though local meteorologists are expecting a cool down for Oklahoma at the end of August, the NOAA is not predicting a dramatic drop in temperatures. The NOAA released its latest eight to 14 day outlook on August 12 and its predicting that Oklahoma's temperatures will remain near normal from August 20-26.
For Oklahoma, normal temperatures in August are daytime highs in the 90s and nighttime lows in the 70s, which is not much different than what we're experiencing now. Once again, Oklahoma will just have to wait and see!
