Crawds & Rods 13 A Major Success
What started as a cloudy morning in Elgin, turned sunny and cool, a perfect day for the event, as the 13th annual Crawds N Rods festival was celebrated on Saturday. As the have each of the past 12 years, the Elgin Fire Department hosted the highly anticipated festival to help support the department's fire safety programs for children.
Along with hot rods and car show enthusiasts from across southwest Oklahoma, the Elgin Volunteer Fire department also welcomed over 3,500 pounds of crawfish all the way from Louisiana.
From crawfish to hot rods to poker runs and carnival rides, there was something for every member of the family. Highlights included the raffling of a beautiful 1969 Camaro, a burn out contest, poker run, carnival and of course, the ever popular crawfish boil. Local bands Garagemaholics, Dollar 98 and Southern Journey were on hand to entertain the crowd.
And it was obvious by the incredible turnout, delectable food both car show competitors and enthusiasts, that the event was well on it's way to the department’s goal with the car give away and crawfish meal is to raise at least $25,000 dollars.
