Just when things started to look up, another COVID-19 variant strikes. I'm sure if you've been paying attention at all you're aware that the Omicron strain of Coronavirus is spreading like wildfire across Oklahoma. With all the holiday travel and get-togethers, health experts are concerned about the recent spike in new cases.

Evidently, the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 is incredibly contagious, more so than any other variant or even the original Coronavirus. From what we're hearing the only good news is the symptoms of Omicron aren't quite as severe. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be taken seriously, especially if you have other health issues or a weakened immune system. Despite being less severe it's caused hospitalizations and deaths.

If you've been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or are showing any symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat, congestion, or any flu/cold type conditions you should get tested. Today the CCHD (Comanche County Health Department) will be hosting a drive-thru testing clinic at the Comanche County Fairgrounds' Expo Building located at 920 S. Sheridan Road until 4:00 pm this afternoon.

If you're unable to get tested today the CCHD has just announced that they'll be extending their hours on select dates to accommodate additional testing and vaccinations. Along with that, I'm sure CCHD will also host more drive-thru and pop-up clinics in the near future. To stay up to date with all the latest news and future clinics check out their official Facebook page for all the latest. For more information on the drive-thru clinic and extended CCHD hours see the official press release below:
