Firo in Lawton to Be World’s First Drive Thru Serving Roman Style Pizza!
Starting sometime next week Firo Fire Kissed Pizza in Lawton will start serving Roman Style Pizza. Not only that, they'll be setting a record and making history as well. Firo in Lawton will be the very first drive thru to offer Roman Style Pizza Al Taglio anywhere in the world. Don't confuse this pizza with all the others, it's in a class of it's own. I actually had the opportunity to stop by Firo to sample the new pizza and get a sneak peak of what's to come. Imagine being able to drive thru and get a hot, fresh Roman Style Pizza Al Taglio.
So what is Roman Style Pizza? I was introduced to it yesterday and I have to say it's the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is amazing, I could eat it just plain, it's that good. It's very light, airy and crispy. It's nothing like regular pizza crust. They make the dough fresh from imported flour from Italy and prepare it daily. After the dough is allowed to rise and do it's thing, which usually takes a day or so, then it's rolled out on flat pans to be baked. After that it's set to the side and readied for toppings. The pizzas themselves are topped with the finest ingredients then final baking is performed once it's ordered, so you get your pizza hot and fresh as soon as it comes out of the oven. It's served Al Taglio, which is Italian for "By the cut or Slice."
Roman Style PIzza isn't round, it's square. When they cut your pizza into servings it's not cut by a pizza slicer, they use a pair of specialty scissors to do the job. I know it sounds kinda of crazy, but it cuts the pizza perfectly and it doesn't destroy all the toppings or crust. This is how they do it in Rome and why it's called pizza Al Taglio. You can get all kinds of different toppings on your Roman Style Pizza from traditional to custom.I got to try out the Primo, Chicken Alfredo and the all new Hot Honey Brisket Roman Style Pizza.
If you're familiar with the Firo menu and their pizzas, you can get any of those choices Roman Style. You'll be able to order the Italiano, Carne, Romana, Primo and the Chicken Alfredo as Roman Style. The one type or flavor that will be exclusive to the Roman Style Pizza is the Hot Honey Brisket. You have to try this, it's EPIC! I really enjoyed the Primo and Chicken Alfredo has always been a favorite, but the Hot Honey Brisket is on a whole new level. The brisket on this pizza is amazing, very tender and tasty. It also has cheese, onion and is served with a spicy honey that pairs with the pizza like you wouldn't believe. It's just the right amount of sweet and spicy, not too hot, just right. I can't wait for the drive thru to open up, hopefully by next week. Of course you'll be able to order the new Roman Style Pizza for dine in as well once they officially launch it. We'll keep you posted and as soon as it's available we'll be sure to let you know so you can try it out for yourself.
