The museum was originally built back in the early 1930s and severed as a hospital for many years. It was later repurposed and is currently being used as a museum. This building has a very long and storied past.

The Cherokee Strip Museum has all kinds of amazing exhibits, displays, and historical artifacts for visitors to see and learn about. From Native American pieces to WWII items. Alva was once home to a Nazi POW camp.

Adding to an already amazing and incredible Native American history this part of Oklahoma and the town of Alva was used as a POW camp for some of the worst Nazi war criminals throughout WWII from 1943 to 1945.
