When Miranda Lambert informed the world on Saturday (Feb. 16) that she had surprise-married a New York City police officer, she shocked just about everyone, including her old buddy Justin Moore.

"Miranda (Lambert) has always been a good friend," Moore tells Taste of Country on Monday (Feb. 18). "I haven't talked to Miranda for a minute, but I'm pretty sure I've toured more with her than anyone else. She's awesome. I love her music and I love her artistry."

"I don't keep up with who she is dating and all that, but congrats to her," he adds, wishing her well. Lambert wed Brendan Mcloughlin on Jan. 26. "I was as surprised as everyone else."

Who Is Miranda Lambert's New Husband? Everything We Know:

Indeed, Moore and Lambert have a long history. Not only have the two toured together many times in the past, but they also recorded a duet called "Old Habits." The song — which Moore has called one of his favorite songs he's ever recorded — was featured on his 2013 album, Off the Beaten Path.

Moore recently made headlines himself when he announced the April 26 release of his fifth studio album Late Nights and Longnecks, which will house his current single, "The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home."

"It's always fun to make an album, but it's also stressful," he admits, laughing. "There is a certain amount of anxiety in terms of making sure you make every little piece of the puzzle fit. When you have all the songs and you record it, you can take a deep breath. But when you don't have the songs, it's a lot."

Have no fear, Justin Moore fans — he has plenty of songs. Enough for multiple albums, actually! "We wrote enough for two albums," Moore confesses. "The bulk of the next album is basically done."
