Lawton Elementary School Placed On Temporary Lock Down

In response to a traffic stop conducted by Lawton Police earlier this morning, Pioneer Park Elementary School placed on lock down earlier this morning as a precaution.

The traffic stop was conducted in the area of the school, and as the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off. A brief chase ensued and ended when the vehicle’s occupants jumped from the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.

The suspects have since been apprehended. Lawton Police say that at no time were either students at the school or area residents in immediate danger. The lock down has since been lifted.
