Lawton Police Department Warns Citizens of New Phone Scam!

LPD (Lawton Police Department) has issued a warning about a new phone scam that's being reported in Lawton, Fort Sill. Unfortunately, a few people have fallen victim to the scam and several others have reported the scammers' attempts to the police. This scam activity all started right before the weekend, late last week.

There's no shortage of people looking to steal your money and identity. You have to be on the lookout and on guard for potential scams and scammers at all times these days. Otherwise, you'll end up broke or have your credit and reputation destroyed. Well, we have yet another scam that's been reported in Lawton, Fort Sill.

The latest scam we're facing is a phone scam for banking and personal information. The scammers are calling random numbers in Lawton, Fort Sill posing as banking representatives or employees of the bank/financial institute you bank at. They're also posing as HR or business department personnel from your corporate or employer's office. In both cases, they're asking you to take funds from your personal accounts and place them in a Bitcoin ATM. It's 100% a scam! See the warning from the LPD Facebook page below: 

Whatever you do, DO NOT give any personal, or financial information out to these scammers or it could cost you $100s maybe even $1,000s of dollars. Not only that, depending on the details and information you share you could have your identity stolen. That could do all kinds of damage to your credit, finances, and completely ruin your reputation. Just ask anyone who's had this happen to them before. It's a nightmare!

ALWAYS VERIFY who you're speaking with or getting any communication from prior to sharing any vital information. Make sure the person or company you're dealing with is 100% legit. Take the time to double-check and do some investigating before you give out any personal or financial details. Normally, if you're being contacted by your bank or employer you can easily verify that it's legitimate. Anytime you're being contacted by phone or email and it wasn't initiated by you. BEWARE it's probably a scam of some kind!
