Celebrate The Grand Reopening Of Lawton’s Revamped Thunder Court
More celebrations are planned for Lee West Park in Lawton! The park on SW 67th Street recently reopened after extensive renovations, and now the new Thunder Community Court is set to have a big reveal on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Lee West Park officially reopened on January 19 this year after almost four months of renovations. The park got a complete Thunder makeover! The park now features an upgraded playground with ADA compliant features and a cushioned flooring system.
The revitalization of Lee West Park also included the repainting of Lawton's Thunder Court.
Lawton's Thunder Court first opened in 2019.
Lawton first opened the town's only Thunder Court in 2019 as part of the Thunder Cares Foundation's initiative to rehabilitate basketball courts across the state. When the court first opened nearly seven years ago, the City of Lawton and the Thunder Cares Foundation hosted a big grand opening.
Now that the court has received a much needed revamp, the City of Lawton and the Thunder Cares Foundation will host another reveal party! Lawton residents are invited to the official reveal at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28 at Lee West Park, which is located along SW 67th Street.
