Miller Farms Opens Its Roadside Stand For Summer Delights
Summer may be hot in Oklahoma, but one of the best things about an Oklahoma summer is all of the fresh produce! Soon the local farmers markets will be filled with locally grown produce. But starting Friday, May 30, one of southwest Oklahoma's largest roadside fresh produce farm stands will be opening its doors. Soon people will be able to enjoy the delicious produce from Miller Farms in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
Rush Springs is known as the Watermelon Capital of the World! Although it's not watermelon season yet, the roadside farm stand at Miller Farms will still have plenty of fresh produce for people to enjoy as they eagerly await watermelon season. Miller Farms will have its season opener from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 30 at its farm stand, located at 4586 HWY 81 in Rush Springs.
Everything at the Miller Farms roadside farm stand is either grown on the farm in Rush Springs or imported from other Oklahoma and Texas farms. If you stop in, you'll find cantaloupes, tomatoes (red, green and cherry), peaches, plums, blueberries, green means, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, onions, potatoes, strawberries and more!
When will the Rush Spring watermelons be available?
Every Oklahoman knows that the best watermelons come from Rush Springs. Every year the town hosts its annual Watermelon Festival to celebrate the town's most delicious fruit. This year's Watermelon Festival will take place Saturday, August 9, just after watermelon season gets started.
Oklahoma's watermelon season typically runs from late June through early September. So later this summer Oklahomans will see Rush Spring watermelons available for purchase at local farmers markets, on roadsides or in various local parking lots. Of course, once the watermelons are ready, Miller Farms will have several different kinds of watermelons available for purchase at their farm stand in Rush Springs.
