British country singer David Bradley's song "Get A Hero Home" takes me back to a time when community coming together to help one of our men (or women) in uniform find his way home, wouldn't have been thought of as a big deal. Its just what was done. Back when this entire country was a community, back when we took care of our own. Today, we have veterans living on the street, suffering from stress and other issues directly attributed to their service. We have lost the ability (or the desire) to take care of those that sacrificed to protect our freedoms.

We are more concerned about the color or design of a coffee cup than we are as to whether or not our veterans have enough to eat or a bed to sleep in. On this day, we all proclaim to thank those who have served. On this day, and every day, we need to take a moment to actually thank a veteran for giving their all to this country.
