
Oklahoma’s Tornado Season Brings Five Strong Storms This Year
Oklahoma may have not had a historic year for tornadoes like 2024, but there were some big tornadoes that impacted the state in 2025. As the year wraps up, it's not looking like Oklahoma will get any more tornadoes, even though tornadoes are not uncommon in December.
This year didn't see its first tornado until a major tornado outbreak the first week of March. As usual, it wasn't until springtime that Oklahoma started to see bigger and stronger tornadoes.
Oklahoma saw five strong tornadoes in 2025.
Even though the EF5 drought was broken this year, Oklahoma didn't see a tornado larger than an EF3 in 2025. This year, Oklahoma received five strong tornadoes, including three EF2 tornadoes and two EF3 tornadoes.
Oklahoma saw two EF2 tornadoes during the month of April and they both were on the same day. One struck Love County and another hit Marshall County. Neither reported any deaths or injuries, but both did cause significant damage to southeast Oklahoma.
The third EF2 tornado of 2025 struck Ellis and Roger Mills Counties on June 17 during another tornado outbreak.

The first EF3 of 2025 hit Ellis County in western Oklahoma.
Before the EF2 in June, Ellis County in western Oklahoma was struck by a strong EF3 on May 18. No deaths or injuries were reported with the tornado, but significant damage was reported in Ellis County.
The next day on May 19, an EF3 struck Pittsburg County in eastern Oklahoma. One injury was reported with this tornado. The tornado caused significant damage throughout the county causing Pittsburg County Commissioners to declare a state of emergency.
