Take a magical journey on the Polar Express in Oklahoma City!

Our family is making every effort to make holidays more about experiences than about gifts and money. We decorate Christmas cookies together for prizes, we wear ugly (I think they are cute) Christmas Sweaters, and a few years ago, my family took a little ride on the Polar Express.

Those of you with children probably know the movie all too well. Narrated and starring Tom Hanks as the conductor to the North Pole, it tells a great story about giving during the holiday season. The book originally published in 1985 is one that families read together during the holiday season.

The story is such a sweet one, but it's even better when you can see the story come to life with actors singing and dancing down the aisle of a moving train!  A few years ago, we took the family to Oklahoma City's Polar Express Train Ride.

The kids were mesmerized by the music and the ride. And, I think the parents and us grandparents enjoyed the experience as much as the kids did. It really is fun for the whole family. Our youngest granddaughter was just a little over one year old when we went, but the middle grandchild was really into the whole story.
