
Oklahoma Could See Up to Four Inches of Rain by Easter Sunday
April showers may drown May flowers in Oklahoma! A huge super soaker is about to move through Oklahoma this weekend, and parts of the state could see up to four inches of rain by Easter Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a slight risk for severe storms is possible for most of Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday. Storm chances have decreased for Easter Sunday but the day will still be wet! It's now a guarantee that Oklahomans will want to plan for inside Easter egg hunts as heavy rainfall over the weekend could lead to flash flooding Friday night through Sunday morning.
With the storms on Friday and Saturday, Oklahomans could mostly see large hail, heavy rain and damaging wind gusts.
Areas of Oklahoma could see up to four inches of rain.
The good news with this upcoming system is that mostly all of Oklahoma will see rain! Some areas will see more then others. The panhandle of Oklahoma could barely see an inch of rain. Portions of western and northwest Oklahoma could see anywhere from half an inch to an inch of rain.
Southwest Oklahoma, central and northeast Oklahoma could see one to two inches. And eastern and southeastern Oklahoma are expected to get the most rain this Easter weekend as these areas could see two to four inches of rain.
Oklahoma could see more rain and severe storms into next week.
The rain won't stop on Easter Sunday in Oklahoma! It's possible the rain could continue well into next week. The NOAA expects Oklahoma to receive above average precipitation through April 29. Plus, meteorologists are expecting Oklahoma's storm season to reach its peak at the end of April and into early May. So Oklahomans are strongly encouraged to remain weather aware!
