Labor Day weekend is upon us, and with plenty of outdoor holiday weekend activities in Oklahoma, the continuation of the below-average temperatures is most welcome. But Oklahoma residents should remain weather aware this weekend as rain and thunderstorm chances are also on tap for the holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the below-average temperatures Oklahoma has been experiencing this week will continue into the weekend. From Friday through Monday, areas across Oklahoma could see daytime highs anywhere from the low 70s to upper 80s.

As for rain chances, rain will continue in Oklahoma on Thursday and into Friday. There will still be chances for intermittent low to medium rain thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. But the rain chances will begin to decrease on Monday.

Below average temperatures will continue in Oklahoma after Labor Day.

Oklahoma's early fall will stretch through the first September. The NOAA six to 10 day extended forecast expects Oklahoma to continue to see below average temperatures through Sept. 6.

Cooler temps and increased rain could lead to vibrant fall foliage in Oklahoma.

Believe it or now, Oklahoma has some beautiful fall foliage. And thanks to increased rain chances, the fall foliage in Oklahoma is expected to be extra vibrant this year. Even though the first day of fall is in mid-September, Oklahoma residents won't see peak fall foliage until the end of October and early November.

According to the ExploreFall.com fall foliage map, northern Oklahoma may start to see low color fall foliage at the beginning of October. After that, leaves will gradually begin turning further south the more we get into October.
