First Freeze Is Headed for Most of Oklahoma This Week
It's the week of Thanksgiving, and most of Oklahoma hasn't seen the first freeze of the season, but that is expected to change this week. Almost all of Oklahoma could see freezing temperatures by the evening of Thanksgiving.
Three cold fronts are expected to move through Oklahoma this week. The first cold front has already arrived. It began blowing through Oklahoma during the early hours Monday morning. The second cold front is expected Wednesday and the third is set to arrive Saturday.
Daytime temperatures will be like a roller coaster this week but will continue a downward trend as Thanksgiving approaches. As for potential freezes, some areas could see their first freeze on Tuesday morning and others may not see the first freeze till Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, many locations in central and southern Oklahoma have yet to see their first freeze of the season. These areas typically average a first freeze by early November. This year could end up being in the top five latest freezes on record for most areas of Oklahoma.
Tuesday morning lows for most of Oklahoma are expected in the 30s. And Friday morning lows for most of Oklahoma are expected to be in the high 20s.
Will Oklahoma see snow on Thanksgiving?
For a split second last week, the extended forecast was looking like there could be snow on Thanksgiving. But it looks like those chances shifted and according to the National Weather Service in Norman, there are no obvious chances for precipitation this week, even with three cold fronts moving in.
As of Monday, Nov. 25, the National Weather Service in Norman is guaranteeing that Thanksgiving will be chilly. On Thanksgiving Day, Early morning temperatures will be in the 30s while the afternoon will slightly warm up into the upper 40s. Precipitation during the predawn hours of Thanksgiving are less than 20 percent.
So if you're traveling on Thanksgiving, the roads will be clear of hazardous weather, but you'll definitely want to pack your winter coat!
