Two Winter Weather Events To Bring Snow, Ice and Cold Rain to Oklahoma
As we get closer to next week, more information keeps coming out about Oklahoma's next bout with winter weather. It's now looking like Oklahoma will get two winter weather events next week that will bring through snow, ice and cold rain.
News 9 Meteorologist Lacey Swope posted to her official Facebook page on Thursday mapping out the two winter weather symptoms that will impact Oklahoma next week. The first system is expected to move through with light rain and possibly wintry mix in northern Oklahoma. More cold air and moisture will enter Oklahoma with the second round Tuesday into Wednesday.
As of the end of this week, it's looking like northern Oklahoma will get snow, southern Oklahoma could see ice/wintry mix, and southeast Oklahoma could also see ice along with cold rain.
KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan is also expecting freezing rain and sleet in Oklahoma next week. His latest models suggest that areas of Oklahoma could see freezing rain and sleet accumulations up to .27 inches by Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Norman has also updated their predictions for next week. They're mostly expecting a wintry mix for Oklahoma from Monday through Wednesday and a chance for rain on Thursday.
Two things that are for certain is that temperatures will be cold in Oklahoma next week and people will want to remain weather aware! Temperatures will be on a downward trend starting Sunday. By Wednesday, daytime highs will be in the 30s and overnight lows will be in the teens.
And as we get closer to next week, the forecast is bound to change! So be sure to remain weather aware.
