Oklahoma Could See Snow The First Week of January 2025
Oklahomans who dream of white Christmas may have their dreams come true just a few weeks after the holiday. Extended forecasts are predicting snow for Oklahoma the first week of January 2025.
Christmas this year in Oklahoma is expected to be overcast and mild. Oklahoma also has multiple chances for rain this week due to multiple Pacific weather systems coming through. But it's not expected to rain on people's holidays. During the day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are expected to be overcast.
One thing is guaranteed this week: Oklahoma is not going to have a white Christmas.
Oklahoma could see a white New Year.
Even though there will be no white Christmas for Oklahoma this year, a white New Year could be more of a possibility. Last week, KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan posted on his official Facebook page the NOAA's three to four week temperature outlook and Oklahoma is expected to experience below average temperatures Jan. 4-17, 2025.
Morgan gave a few breakdowns for this upcoming forecast:
- January is normally Oklahoma's coldest time of year.
- This pattern is associated with above normal sunshine.
- Any storms that move across Oklahoma during this time will have an above average chance of producing snow.
- Record breaking cold would not be associated with this type of pattern.
Even social media meteorologists are expecting the first of January to see snow, especially in the deep south. But before it reaches the deep south, most of Oklahoma, particularly western, southwest and southeast could receive a bout of snow before it makes it way to the southern states.
