Watermelon season is kicking off in Oklahoma! And to celebrate Oklahoma's sweet treat is the annual Rush Springs Watermelon Capital. This year's festival will take place Saturday, August 9 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Watermelon farms around Rush Springs are already picking their first crops of this year's watermelons. And all the watermelons will come together for one big celebration during the annual Rush Springs Watermelon Festival.

The festival sees nearly 20,000 visitors each year and serves up to 50,000 pounds of watermelon! Each year, Rush Springs hosts a rodeo on Thursday and Friday before the festival on Saturday. At the festival, visitors can try various different types of watermelon, including black diamond and royal sweet.

Other activities at the festival include a seed spitting contest, arts and crafts fair, carnival rides and so much more!

Rush Springs Watermelon Queen has already been promoting the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival.

The 80th Watermelon Queen is Kylee Heston, and she has already been seen traveling around Oklahoma promoting the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival. She has made appearances at other local festivals, and she has even gotten her hands dirty by helping local Rush Springs watermelon farms harvest their first watermelons of the season.
