The City of Lawton just announced that the 2021 Lawton, Fort Sill Freedom Festival is a go! The event will be held at Elmer Thomas Park located at 501 N.W. Ferris Avenue on the corner of Ferris and 3rd Street Saturday, June 26th (06-26-21). The festival will get underway around 6:00pm that night and go until around 10:30pm ending with one of the largest fireworks displays in S.W. Oklahoma! Here's the best part, it's FREE to attend and parking is FREE as well! It'll be a HUGE picnic and community get together as we celebrate America's Independence  at Elmer Thomas park. Not just fireworks, there's going to be a FREE CONCERT!

Last year the festival was cancelled thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, so this year is going to be bigger and better than ever! We're finally starting to see a return to normal after what we've all been through over the past year or so. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than Freedom Festival. Even though the festival is happening there won't be any food or sale vendors at the park due to health regulations and safety. But you're encouraged to bring your own food and drink for a picnic in the park with family and friends.

The playgrounds will be open for the kids and the splash pad will be open that day from 10:00am until 6:00pm. There's plenty of picnic tables around the park you can use, or you can bring a blanket and chairs to set up. They'll also be offering "Park and Ride" service. There will be a shuttle running from McMahon Auditorium and dropping people off near the playgrounds starting at 5:00pm.

You can bring out your lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, ice chests and umbrellas. You can even bring a pop up tent, but it has to be taken down at 8:00pm prior to the concert and fireworks display.

No pets, other than service animals, no alcohol, drones or personal fireworks allowed. Don't forget your sunscreen and insect repellent.

There's even going to be a FREE CONCERT! The 77th Army Band will be performing live from 7:30pm until 9:30pm at the Lake Side Amphitheater Stage. Then it'll be time for the grand finale once it gets dark enough, around 9:45pm there will be a fireworks display, one of the biggest in S.W. Oklahoma!

It's going to be a great day and night at Elmer Thomas Park with the Lawton, Fort Sill Freedom Festival.
