Vaska Theatre Drive In Double Feature Fundraiser Is This Weekend!
Get ready for a drive in double feature fundraiser at the Vaska Theatre this weekend on Saturday night (01-23-21). It's going to be a good time and for a great cause! Proceeds will go to benefit the relighting campaign. How cool is that? You can help relight Vaska Theatre, restoring the tower and neon lighting back to it's original glory. Let's all do our part to help out, show up this Saturday and donate if at all possible.
The Vaska is the oldest and longest running movie theatre in Lawton, Fort Sill. It opened all the way back in 1948 and is still going strong. I couldn't tell you how many movies I've seen there from the time I was a kid to today. It's a big part of our community, our city's history and a Lawton landmark for sure. The Vaska is raising funds to paint the tower and replace all the neon lightning. They'd also like to purchase a search light that will be attached to the top of the tower similar to how it was back when it first opened up. If you haven't been to the Vaska in awhile they've done a lot of improvements to the theater both inside and out.
By attending the drive in double feature scheduled for this Saturday, January 23rd (01-23-21) at the Vaska Theatre parking lot you'll be helping out. They'll be showing MIB (Men In Black) starting at 6:00pm then Howard The Duck at 8:00pm. It's just $10.00 per car to attend. The concession stand will be open, NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS. Be a part of the "Aliens Under the Stars" this Saturday night. Now if you're unable to attend the drive in double feature fundraiser you can also make a donation online by clicking here. I've gone to tons of movies at the Vaska but I've never been to one of their drive in movie nights. I'll definitely have to make this one.
