May is American Stroke Awareness Month.  Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States.  Statistics show that 1 person in the U. S. suffers stroke every 40 seconds, according to the American Heart Association.

Alicia Webster, Stroke/STEMI Coordinator for Comanche County Memorial Hospital wants to get the word out about factors that could mean you are at rick for a stroke.

Risk Factors Include:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Disease
  • Previous Stroke or TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack)
  • Diabetes
  • Tobacco Use
  • High Cholesterol
  • A non-active lifestyle (Sedentary)
  • Women

Wayne's Drive Inn is stepping up to the plate to let you know the fastest way to spot a possible stroke, just by remembering the word FAST!

This sticker will be attached to fountain drinks on Friday and Saturday at both locations of Wayne's Drive Inn as way to get the word out.  FAST stands for:
