Above Average Hot Temperatures Expected to Return to Oklahoma
Oklahoma will enjoy cooler weather and increased rain chances this weekend thanks to a cold front that came through Thursday. Temperatures are expected to be below average with rain possibilities all weekend. But summer isn't over yet. Temperatures are expected to increase after the weekend.
Oklahomans will want to enjoy the outside as much as they can this weekend before the summer heat returns. Temperatures will remain well below average before starting a slow increase Sunday.
Rain chances are high through the weekend as well with showers returning Friday evening. Saturday will see rain showers pretty much off and on all day, while Sunday will only have possibilities of rain in the morning. After that, Oklahoma will have a low chance for any precipitation.
Above average temperatures will return to Oklahoma.
While Oklahoma is loving these below average temperatures, the above average temperatures will return next week. The NOAA's six to 10 day extended forecast has Oklahoma experiencing above average temperatures from August 15-19.
As for precipitation, the extended outlook has Oklahoma experiencing below average chances of precipitation.
Most of Oklahoma is experiencing either a moderate drought or is abnormally dry.
Rain chances have been little to zero in Oklahoma lately. Hopefully these next few days of rain will bring a lot of moisture to the state. The latest drought monitor, released August 6, has most of Oklahoma's experiencing a moderate drought, other areas are abnormally dry and there are a few counties in a severe drought.
