Thursday is upon us once again, and that means that once again we are introducing you to one of the great, unheralded, unsigned or indy label artists trying to make their name in Nashville. Today, and artist who was born and raised in Dallas, who started performing in her own home, using the hearth of the fireplace as her own personal stage.

Adrian Johnston grew up in a home where the songs of the Eagles, Vince Gill, Amy Grant and James Taylor filled the air. She began singing and performing for her family and friends, using the fireplace hearth as her stage and building her confidence as her love for performing grew. By the time she was in high school, it became apparent that performing was more than just a passing fancy for Adrian, so her parents enlisted vocal coaching for her, and by college she had started performing at live events and open mic nights.

Creating a stage presence that was equal parts Wynonna's sass, Dolly's sweetness, Carrie Underwood's power and Miranda Lambert's attitude, Johnston took a leap of faith and started playing local clubs and honky-tonks while in college. Song writing naturally followed, with Johnston taking a lot of cues from other artist by simply watching what they did on stage and how the worked at their art. Johnston quickly learned the business side of the music business, learning when the stage lights go down, the hard work is only beginning.

Johnston released her self-titled debut EP in 2014, a project that cracked the iTunes hot 200 albums chart. The lead single, "Just Another Blonde" landed on the Texas Music charts, making it into the top-40. She followed her debut with the 2015 single "Avalance", which became her

first top-20 Texas hit and led to her being nominated for Best New Female Vocalist at the Texas Music Awards. The success made Johnston a regular on the Texas concert circuit, where she opened for acts like Jack Ingram, the Turnpike Troubadours and Reckless Kelly.
