‘Catch of the Day’ – Cody Newby & East Cache Creek [AUDIO]
Its Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday on the Catch of the Day, and today's featured artist is truly a newbie.
Cody Newby has been featured on KLAW101's Live and Local From Terry Allen's Guitar Bar. He is lead singer of East Cache Creek and appears regularly throughout SW Oklahoma, including appearances at The Guitar Bar.
Newby was born and raised in Walters, OK. He grew up listening to George Jones, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the Oak Ridge Boys, a definite influence of his granparents. He grew up with a song in heart; some of his earliest memories are of singing songs of all types with his mom.
Cody say that Clint Black is one of the first artists he remembers hearing; Garth Brooks and George Strait soon followed! Cody cleaned up when it came to vocal awards in high school, and parlayed that into a vocal scholarship at OSU.
Newby has played professionally for 10 years, as both a solo artist and the front man for East Cache Creek. He equates his musical style, and that of the band, more with Texas country than Nashville country.
The group is currently in the studio working on their debut album, but today we have a sample of Cody Newby and East Cache Creek. Your Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday is "Learning To Live Without You", new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
