Today for Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday we introduce you to an 18-year old singer/songwriter from Georgia, who first came to the attention of Nashville as a contestant in Dodge's "Inspired By You" contest, a contest that picked one up and coming act to be featured in a commercial for Dodge Dart.

Unfortunately, for Courtney Dickinson, she didn't win the contest. But it did help jump start her fledgling, young country music career. It wasn't the first time that the Acworth, GA native's music caught the ear of Madison Avenue advertising executives. At age 14 Courtney appeared in The Gap's "Born To Play" promotion, which featured young musicians playing live in their stores.

Dickinson is an active participant in the Musician’s on Call Program, which sends up-and-coming young artists on both domestic and international missions trips. Courtney also mentors local middle school students in her hometown on both singing and playing guitar.

The spotlight is nothing new to the young red-head. Dickinson began acting and modeling as a toddler, and eventually becoming one of the youngest performers ever at the Grand Ole Opry, as a member of the Little General Cloggers. By the time she entered grade school, Courtney had the honor of performing at President Jimmy Carter’s Birthday Celebration. She has created quite an impressive list of appearances for a small town girl from Georgia, including an opening stint for Cowboy Troy, dueting with Billy Ray Cyrus and singing the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves.

The Georgia fire-ball released her second EP in May. The self titled project is available through her website and features 8 songs and the first single from the project is in our spotlight today. Courtney Dickinson and "Girls Are Gonna" is our Unsigned/Indy Artist Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
