‘Catch of the Day’ – Matthew Hickey – “Little Back Porch” [AUDIO]

It's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday, and today we feature a singer and songwriter from Knoxville, TN, who discovered his calling as a performer and songwriter late in life.

Matthew Hickey has always had a passion for country music, a passion he discovered entertaining his family at a very early age with an old guitar. It wasn't until his early 20's that he discovered his true talent and love for music. At was at that point he dove in deep, deciding that he was going to learn guitar; things quickly progressed from there.

Less than a year later, he was brought on stage at a local bar to play a few songs. From that point on he knew that was what he wanted to do. Soon after, he performed for Q100.3's first Open Mic Night at Mulligans Restaurant/Cafe and hasn't looked back since.

Now, Matthew performs full time, acoustic and full band, at venues all over East Tennessee, releasing his first single "One More Time" in January of 2014. Around the same time as the release of the single, he entered the Voice Of Knoxville competition, making it to the final round. His unique sound and raspy voice has captured audiences everywhere and left them wanting more.
