It's the question we keep hearing and the one most people want an answer to. Will there be sports this Fall? Students, parents and sports fans a like all want to know what the plans will be and how the City of Lawton Parks and Recreation Department will be handling sports and other group activities this Fall with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The upcoming school year is fast approaching and will be here before you know it. The first day of school is scheduled for Friday, August 21st 2020 (08-21-20) for all Lawton Public Schools. At this time it's looking like Lawton and all of Oklahoma will be heading back into the classroom this Fall. Schools will be re-opening and unless something changes it's sounding like students will be in school verses distant learning.

Normally all sport, club and other extracurricular activities are signed-up for at the very beginning of the school year during enrollment, if not the first week or two of the new school year. Will there be sports and other group activities, or will they be postponed or cancelled? Well at this time we really don't know. The City of Lawton Parks and Recreation Department has address it, however the only thing they've mentioned is that they're talking about it and a decision hasn't been made yet. More than likely they're waiting to see how things improve with the COVID-19 pandemic and to see what the state of Oklahoma itself recommends. Hopefully we'll get an answer sometime soon.
